Bahrain International Circuit, ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, lauded the success of Formula One’s back-to-back World Champions Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing by presenting them with special medals on the sidelines of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix.
Making the presentation were Zayed Rashed Alzayani, Chairman of the Board at Bahrain International Circuit, and Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF).
Alzayani and Shaikh Abdulla congratulated Vettel for winning the 2011 Formula One World Championship and on his unprecedented success this season, which included 10 victories heading into the new race at Buddh International Circuit in New Delhi. They also expressed their delight in presenting the German a special medal, and said that the entire Kingdom is looking forward to welcoming him back to Bahrain next year along with the rest of the Formula One fraternity. The German driver Vettel thanked them for the wonderful honour.
Alzayani and Shaikh Abdulla then presented another medal to Christian Horner, the Red Bull Racing Team Principal, for their success as repeat Constructors’ Champions. Led by Vettel, Red Bull have already secured the title even with three races remaining prior to New Delhi.
Meanwhile, Alzayani along with other Bahrain International Circuit officials also met with Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone, President of the FIA Jean Todt.
A wide ranging team of officials from Bahrain International Circuit, the BMF and the Bahrain Marshalls Club are all in New Delhi assisting in the first-ever running of the Indian Grand Prix.
