STAGE IS SET FOR GULFRUN7 AT BIC

More than 60 cars will be participating in the two-day on-the-track programme

23-Jan-2012

Bahrain International Circuit, ’The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, will be hosting the GulfRun7 track event on Thursday and Friday (January 26 and 27) in Sakhir.

GulfRun is an annual showcase of speed which was started in 2005. It was originally intended to be a weekend getaway for a group of friends from Kuwait who are passionate about motor racing.

This year’s eagerly anticipated event will be the seventh GulfRun staged in the Kingdom and hosted by Bahrain International Circuit.

More than 60 cars will be participating in the two-day on-the-track programme. Action is scheduled to take place from 10am until 7pm each day.

Day one will see the participants competing on the Inner and Outer circuits in the morning and afternoon, followed by action at Bahrain International Karting Circuit in the early evening.

Day two will then see them power along the Grand Prix circuit. The day’s events will culminate with action along Bahrain International Circuit’s quarter-mile drag strip.

The cars that are set to burn rubber this GulfRun include top brands such as Ariel, Audi, BMW, Caterham, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Ford, Honda, Lamborghini, Lexus, Lotus, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche and Westfield. Almost all the participating cars and drivers have already reached Bahrain and are geared up for the event.

Ahmed Al Mudhaf, Chief Executive of GulfRun7, said that all of this year’s participants are delighted to be coming back to Bahrain International Circuit for their exclusive annual event.

“I would like to thank all our sponsors for the valuable support they have given us for this year’s GulfRun,” Al Mudhaf said.

GulfRun7 is being supported by Title Sponsors Wataniya Telecom; Platinum Sponsors Jashanmal, Fasttelco and Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC); and Gold Sponsors Slider Station, Credit One and Al Sawan Travel.

“I would also like to thank all the staff at the circuit and everyone else who is contributing to the success of our event,” Al Mudhaf added. “We appreciate everyone’s efforts and look forward to further cooperation throughout GulfRun7.”

Bahrain International Circuit has allocated a number of garages for the use of GulfRun7 participants. These can be used for refueling, changing tyres, conducting car repairs and the like.

GulfRun aims to promote motor racing and training in a safe and secure environment and avoid street racing, reduce car accidents and educate drivers on proper driving techniques.

Prior to coming to Bahrain, participants in the upcoming GulfRun held a car show which attracted huge crowds at 360 Mall in Kuwait.
