Sergio Perez is fifth Mexican to race in Formula 1 (after Moises Solana, the Rodriguez brothers and Hector Rebaque).
In his short career, he’s already done solid work in Formula BMW and British Formula 3, and finished as runner-up to Williams new-boy Pastor Maldonado in the GP2 Series in 2010 after a three-year run in the championship.
In 2011, Perez was seventh on his championship debut before his car was disqualified on technical grounds. He impresses sufficiently to be retained for 2012 at Sauber, and in 2012, put up a brilliant fight for the win against Fernando Alonso in the rain-hit Malaysian Grand Prix. He eventually finished second, but had won over many fans with his brilliant Sepang performance.
