You could be forgiven for looking above Mark Webber to see if there’s a permanent black cloud hovering over the tall Aussie.

Whether it’s suffering some of the most appalling luck in the Formula 1 paddock – such as breaking his right leg in a cycling accident before what should have been a defining 2009 – or throwing repeated strops about how he’s treated in the Red Bull team during 2010, there’s always an sense of storm clouds around ‘Webbo’.

But, Webber’s also one of the fittest, fastest and most hard-charging drivers in Formula 1, more than justifying his Twitter tag ‘Aussie Grit’. He’s got the talent, and in 2012 he’ll certainly have the car.

If Webber can just tame the more combative side to his personality, and focus his confidence on his own skills, there’s no reason why he can’t be a title contender again. He’ll certainly be hungry for it; it’s possibly his last chance.
