Learn to Drive in the desert
The Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) is home to the world’s second Hummer Driving Academy. Its fleet of 16 4x4s is operated 365 days a year by trained instructors who know everything there is to know about driving — and surviving — in the desert.
First they will guide you through the BIC’s on-site obstacle course.
Then, your skill and confidence suitably boosted, they will take you around Bahrain’s desert trails: soft sand, extreme hills, rock crawling, gravel and unstable surfaces. But there is much more to these courses than driving.
The Certificate of Achievement you receive at the graduation ceremony is not just a reminder — the Hummer Driving Academy is unforgettable — it is a symbol of how well you have worked and how much you have learned. The Hummer Driving Academy is the genuine article.
Course modules include
Controlled Obstacles
Weave your way through the off-road course and the purpose built obstacles on the HUMMER Driving Academy off road course and learn the crucial techniques in a controlled safe environment that are necessary for proper off-road driving.
Off Site Trails
Once you're confident tackling the on-site course, we'll test your skills off-site at various desert trails around Bahrain. Designed to put the techniques learnt on the controlled obstacles into practice, you will be challenged with soft sand, extreme hills, rock crawling, negotiating gravel and unstable surfaces. This off-site training will also teach you how to select the safest route to avoid personal injury, and damage to the vehicles whilst emphasizing environmental awareness.
Recovery Tools and Techniques/Off-Road Preparation
Plan an off road adventure and be prepared for anything. A combination of classroom and practical lessons in Recovery Tools and Recovery Assistance is the focus of this training.
Learn the proper use of winches in a controlled environment, along with off-road preparation when planning a trip. This includes route planning, packing supplies, vehicle preparation and understanding the ‘What if' of off-roading.
Medical Assistance
You can't predict what will happen off road, but you can be prepared. This introduction to First Aid techniques and other exercises in medical assistance is a must for any off-roader.
Desert Survival
Overcome the fear of being stranded in the desert. Learn to uncover potential dangers, methods of energy conservation, making use of limited resources and how to be seen using internationally recognized rescue signals. Both practical techniques and theory will be taught to increase your chances of survival.
Navigation
Learn proper orientation techniques with basic map and compass as well as navigation using state of the art GPS. Once you've mastered these procedures, your skills will be put to the test when you are on your offsite trail.COURSE CONTENT
COURSES
H3 - 1.5 days (BD695)
This course covers a variety of off-road skills. These include off-road driving techniques, vehicle recovery, introduction to navigation with GPS, basic desert survival skills and first aid. At the end of the course there is a graduation ceremony with a Certificate of Achievement and your complimentary HUMMER gifts.
H2 - 3 days (BD1500)
A more intensive course covering in more detail off-road driving techniques, use of recovery tools and techniques including winching, off-road trip preparation, rock crawling, desert survival skills, introduction to GPS navigation and medical assistance. As with the H3 course, you receive a Certificate of Achievement from your graduation ceremony and your complimentary HUMMER - along with an unforgettable experience.
