Felipe Massa

Felipe Massa has been transformed at Ferrari from wild and woolly to silky smooth. Although his Latin emotion still brims over on occasion, Felipe is Formula 1’s most reliable finisher. Controlling affairs from the front, he is metronomic – almost Schumacher-like – in scoring seemingly effortless wins. What he has yet to prove is that he can turn bad situations round, and pull a victory from the hat. Briefly (in qualifying for the 2009 Hungarian GP) we feared we’d never see that happen, as Felipe was knocked unconscious by a spring from Rubens Barrichello’s Brawn GP hitting his helmet at 170mph. After an amazing recovery, Massa proved in pre-season testing that he’s as fast as ever – just in time for what will be a defining 2010.
