Hussain Al Kooheji won both sprints in the fifth and penultimate round of the 2014/2015 BMR 600 one-make motorbikes championship.
Al Kooheji’s fine double allowed him to extend his lead in the season standings and move closer to securing the first-ever title in the highly competitive series, which features identical Honda Hornet motorbikes.
Al Kooheji overcame the unfavourable conditions to win the 11-lap race one from pole in 14mins 01.183scs. Saleh Al Kandari was the runner-up just 6.819secs back, while Faisal Ali completed the podium finishing 11.047secs behind.
“There was a lot of dust and a lot of wind, so some parts of the circuit were good and the others not. There would be a cross-wind pushing the bike off the race line.” - Al Kooheji
Al Kooheji led the same podium placers onto the top three, with Ali this time the runner-up. Al Kooheji won in 13mins 56.132secs. Ali finished 2.253secs behind, and Al Kenadri was third 9.631secs back.
“Overall, the weekend went well. I am now in a good position to claim the title next weekend in the final round.” - Al Kooheji
The BMR 600 is now headed towards its season finale, slated to take place May 1 at BIC.
