Al Faisal Al Zubair took the chequered flag in race one of the final round in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, being held in support of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix
Al Zubair won in a total race time of 21 minutes 22.541 seconds. He completed the 10-lap sprint just 0.678 seconds ahead of runner-up Charlie Frijns, while Ryan Cullen completed the podium placers 3.861s back.
With the result, Al Zubair became the first Gulf driver to claim an overall race win this season.
He also claimed first place amongst all Silver category competitors, while Frijns won the gold class and Magnus Ohman claimed the bronze category.
Amongst the Bahraini drivers, Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa claimed a podium spot after finishing third in the bronze class, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa was fourth amongst the Silver division challengers and Shaikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
The weekend’s second race is to be held on Sunday at 3.30pm.
