Al Faisal Al Zubair of Oman took the chequered flag today in race one of the final round in the 2017/2018 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, being held in support of the Formula 1 2018 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
Al Zubair completed the 10-lap sprint in a total time of 22 minute 14.613 seconds.
Team Bahrain ace His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa finished as runner-up 5.024 seconds behind.
Daniel Lu of China completed the podium placers 5.972s off the winning pace.
Team Bahrain’s other rising talent, Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, just missed out on a spot in the top three after being classified fourth 9.861 seconds from first.
Glynn Geddie of Great Britain and Charlie Frijns from the Netherlands rounded out the top six.
There were a total of 15 drivers who started the race. Al Zubair also registered the fastest lap of 2:03.637.
Race two is scheduled for 3.30pm on Sunday, with Al Zubair once again on pole.
