Khaled Alsaie came away with the narrowest of victories in the second round of the Bahrain SWS Sprint Championship.
The event was hosted last Thursday by Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.
Alsaie outduelled fellow title hopeful Mohammed Mattar by a mere 0.008 seconds to clinch his maiden victory of the new season.
Alsaie completed the 15-lap sprint around BIKC’s 1.414-kilometre track in a total time of 18 minutes 38.554 seconds.
Mattar claimed his second podium in as many races with his finish. The leading pair were trailed not far behind by Abdulla Buhindi, who was classified third to take the last podium spot after finishing just 0.104seconds behind Alsaie.
Louis Skalski (+2.571s) was fourth-best in the race while Bader Mubarak (+2.964s) finished in fifth place. Winner of the season’s opening round, Ali Baslar (+2.971s), had to settle this time for sixth, while Ahmed Ebrahim (+3.027s) and Hussain Lala (+3.174s) rounded out the top eight.
A total of 17 karters took part in the round’s Final race, which determined the overall winner. Only one did not make the final classification.
Earlier in the day, Alsaie also led all competitors in the Pre-Final, which he won in 13:36.053. He beat Buhindi by 0.216s.
During Qualifying, Rashid Almuammari was the top performer with a fastest lap of 1 minute 13.307 seconds. Baslar came close to matching his mark but was 0.061secpmds off the pace.

The championship resumes with round three on October 7 following a short summer break. The season includes eight rounds in all.
