Nico Hulkenberg powered Force India to the top of the timesheet today on day three of Formula 1 pre-season testing at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.

Hulkenberg’s best lap of 1 minute 23.110 seconds in his VJM09 was significantly quicker than the rest of the field.

Romain Grosjean of F1 debutants Haas surprised and was his closest challenger with a fastest lap of 1:25.874.

Kimi Raikkonen continued Ferrari’s fine form during the tests with a lap of 1:25.977 to rank third.

Hulkenberg hands over testing duties to Alfonso Celis on Thursday, which will be the last day of the first four-day session in Barcelona.

Also scheduled to get out on track are Raikkonen, Esteben Gutierrez for Force India, Nico Rosberg of Mercedes, Fernando Alonso of McLaren, Felipe Massa of Williams,
Daniil Kvyat of Red Bull Racing, Kevin Magnussen for Renault, Max Verstappen of Toro Rosso, Rio Haryanto of Manor and Felipe Nasr of Sauber.

Following Thursday’s test, running will continue next week from Tuesday to Friday.
