Viscaal takes race one victory in MRF Challenge at BIC

Bent Viscaal clinched the victory in the weekend’s first race of the MRF Challenge on Friday, taking place in support of the FIA WEC Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). 

The Dutch youngster was able to move in front on the very first lap and hold on to his lead the rest of the way.


 

He completed the nine-lap sprint in a total race time of 23 minutes 52.460 seconds. 

Pole-sitter David Schumacher, son of former Formula 1 racer Ralf Schumacher and nephew of Michael Schumacher, finished as the runner-up. He dropped to third on lap one but was able to move up to second position on lap six.

Valdemar Eriksen of Denmark claimed the final podium place 6.548s behind. He started from sixth but did well on the first lap before battling for second with Schumacher.

 


Rounding out the finishers on the final classification were Dylan Young of Australia, Joh Mason of Great Britain, Reece Ushijima of Japan, Michelangelo Amendola of Belgium, Largim Ali of Denmark and Manaf Hijjawi of Jordan.

The second of this weekend’s four scheduled races is later today at 6pm.
