World champions Porsche powered to an impressive victory early today morning in a dramatic 6 Hours of Mexico, held under varying weather conditions at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.

Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard steered their no. 1 Porsche 919 Hybrid to the win after overcoming a series of setbacks and completing a total of 230 laps.

The result earned the trio their second successive victory of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship, which featured Mexico as the fifth of nine rounds.

Webber, Hartley and Bernhard finished a whole minute (1:01.442) ahead of runners-up Marcel Fassler and Andre Lotterer of Audi Sport Team Joest. Fassler and Lotterer led midway through the race in their no. 7 R18 Quattro but eventually lost the chase after hitting the wall, costing them nearly half-a-minute to rejoin racing.

Stephane Sarrazin, Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi finished in third place overall for Toyota Gazoo Racing. They were 1:09.709 back in their no. 6 TS050.

The top overall trio were also the best three in the LMP1 class.

In the LMP2 category, the trio of Gonzalez, Albuquerque and Senna of TGR Sport by Mcrand finished in first place. They steered their Ligier JS P2 – Nissan to the win with 210 laps completed.

In the LMGTE Pro, Aston Martin Racing’s Stanaway and Darren Turner went on to claim the victory in their Aston Martin Vintage V8 with a 202-lap total.

In the LMGTE Am class, Abu Dhabi-Proton Racing’s Khaled Al Qubaisi, David Heinemeier Hansson and Patrick Long were the winners. Driving a Porsche 919 RSR, the trio won their group with a total of 201 laps.
