Timo Bernhard, Mark Webber and Brendon Hartley powered their no. 1 Porsche 919 Hybrid challenger to a fine victory in the 6 Hours of Circuit of the Americas today, held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, the US.

Starting from third on the grid behind an all-Audi front row, the reigning World champions took control of the race midway through and never looked back.

The Porsche trio claimed their third successive victory this WEC season with the result. The event marked the sixth of nine rounds this campaign.

Taking second place was the no. 8 Audi R18 quattro of Lucas di Grassi, Oliver Jarvis and Loic Duval, while the final podium place was claimed by the team of Mike Conway, Stephane Sarrazin and Kamui Kobayashi of Toyota Gazoo Racing in their TS050 Hybrid.

All three were a part of the overall podium as well as the LMP1 constructors’ classification.
They each registered a total of 186 laps after six hours. The victors finished 23.641 seconds ahead of their Audi rivals. The Toyotas in third place were 26.096s adrift.

In the LMP1 Privateer class, The No.13 Rebellion Racing R-One-AER of Dominik Kraihamer and Alexandre Imperatori took first place.

In the LMP2 category, the no.36 Signatech Alpine of Nicolas Lapierre, Gustavo Menezes, Stephane Richelmi clinched the win.

Following suit in the LM GTE Pro class were the no.95 Aston Martin Racing pairing of
Marco Sorensen and Nicki Thiim; while in the LMGTE Am class, Pedro Lamy, Mathias Lauda and Paul Dalla Lana in their in their no.98 Aston Martin Racing were triumphant.

The WEC season continues on October 16 with the 6 Hours of Fuji in Japan, which is round seven of nine on the 2016 calendar. The penultimate event then happens on November 6 in China with the 6 Hours of Shanghai, which then leads up to the season-finale at Bahrain International Circuit on November 19, the 6 Hours of Bahrain.
