World champions Porsche made their presence felt this morning after topping the timesheets in Free Practice 3 for the FIA WEC Bapco 6 Hours of Bahrain

It was the no. 2 Hybrid of drivers’ world title holders Timo Bernhard, Earl Bamber and Brendon Hartley that set the pace. They steered their car to a best lap of one minute 42.438 seconds.

Teammate Neel Jani, Andre Lotterer and Nick Tandy in Porsche’s no. 1 challenger that followed not far behind with a lap 0.696s slower.

The no. 8 Hybrid of Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Sebastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson and Kazuki Nakajima was classified third 1.296s back. The no. 7 car driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez finished fourth 1.464s off the pace.

All four cars were in the LMP1 class.

The LMP2 car of Ho-Pin Tung, Oliver Jarvis and Thomas Laurent was on top of the class with a best lap of 1:48.879 in the Oreca-07 of Jackie Chan D”C Raing.

In the LMGTE Pro division, AF Corse’s James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guida had a best lap of 1:57.972 in their Ferrari 488 GTE.

In the LMGTE Am class, Clearwater Racing’s Weng Sun Mok, Keita Sawa and Matthew Griffin had a quickest time of 2:00.661 in their Ferrari 488 GTE to top their classification.

Qualifying follows on Friday early evening.
