Nico Rosberg continued where he left off from Melbourne a fortnight ago by topping the timesheet in Practice 1, kicking off the 2016 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Bahrain International Circuit.

Rosberg clocked a fastest lap of 1 minute 32.294 seconds to secure the hour-and-a-half session’s number one spot.

The Australian Grand Prix winner was 0.505 seconds quicker than teammate Lewis Hamilton, and 1.834s ahead of Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen on Practice 1 classification.

The rest of the top eight included Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat of Red Bull Racing, Nico Hulkenberg of Force India, and Carlos Sainz Jr and Max Verstappen of Toro Rosso.
