Bahrain Drag Racing Championship reaches midway point with round three this week at BIC

Bahrain Drag Racing Championship reaches midway point with round three this week at BIC

The head-to-head battles are set to go up a notch as the 2023/2024 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship (BDRC) reaches its midway point in this season’s third round, taking place this week at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

The fight for victories, podiums and all-important points is set to intensify as the region’s premier drag racing series hits the quarter-mile strip at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”.

The BDRC is a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)-sanctioned competition, organised and run by BIC in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation, the Bahrain Drag Racing Commission, and the Bahrain Motorcycle Commission.

In the two previous meetings, around 250 competitors from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Canada, and the US took part in each round.

This week’s programme is scheduled to get underway Tuesday and Wednesday (30 and 31 January) with back-to-back nights of Test and Tune, scheduled from 6pm to 12midnight.

Qualifying will then be held on Thursday (1 February) from 3pm onwards, setting up the pairings for the eliminations on Race Day Friday (2 February) from 2pm onwards.

The action will be held along BIC’s quarter-mile drag strip, which is a member of the prestigious NHRA Worldwide Network.

All are welcome to attend and enjoy the multiple nights of thrilling drag racing. Tickets to Test and Tune cost BD2 per person for each night along BIC’s Beyon Grandstand. Tickets for Qualifying and Race Day are BD5 apiece for the Start Line Grandstand and BD3 each for the Beyon Grandstand.

Also available to fans attending on each night at BIC is the Dragster Experience. BIC’s most adrenaline-pumping passenger activity, also known as “the Fastest Ride on Earth”, offers fans the chance to get a taste of pure speed as they are taken from zero to 100kph in just one second while in the cockpit of a 10,500cc Top Dragster.

The Dragster Experience is available at BD44 for a first passenger, while a second passenger can join for half the price.

The BDRC features five rounds in all in its 2023/2024 season. Round four is scheduled for next week from 6 to 9 February, setting the stage for the championship finale from 19 to 22 March.
