Berthon leads WTCR field in first practice

Berthon leads WTCR field in first practice

Nathanael Berthon from France topped the timesheet in the first 45-minute free practice session of the WTCR Race of Bahrain, the penultimate round of the WTCR-FIA World Touring Car Cup taking place in support of the Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain.

Berthon had a fastest lap of two minutes 11.616 seconds in his Audi RS3 LMS TCR challenger.

His Comtayou Team Audi Sport teammate Mehdi Bennani from Morocco followed 0.300s behind, while BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse driver Mikel Azcona from Spain was third overall amongst the 13 competitors 0.338s adrift in his Hyundai Elantra N TCR car.

The WTCR field returns to the track for a second free practice at 3.30pm, to be held over 30 minutes.
