Besler takes season-ending victory in Porsche GT3 Cup ME

Berkay Besler won the season-ending race of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, held today in support of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2019. 

Besler narrowly beat newly crowned champion Al Faisal Al Zubair of Oman to the chequered flag. Only 0.197s separated the pair in the 10-lap sprint.

The triumphant Turk clinched his win in a total race time of 21m 56.466s.

JB Simmenauer from France completed the podium after crossing the finish line 2.211s behind.

 

 

Dylan Pereira (+3.449s) from the Netherlands was fourth, Leon Koehler (+4.140s) from Germany fifth, and Bahrain’s very own Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa (+5.601s) sixth overall.

Rounding out the top 10 were Khalid Al Wahabi of Oman, pole-sitter Tio Ellinas of Cyprus, Jesse Van Kuijk of the Netherlands and Christoffer Bergstrom from Sweden.

The top three overall were also the winners in the Pro class.

Koehler, Shaikh Isa bin Salman and Van Kuijk formed the podium in the ProAm category; while the winners of the Am class were Michael Knutzon of Sweden, Michael Sauer of Denmark and Michael Doppelmayr of Austria.
