Mr Arif Rahimi, Chairman of Bahrain International Circuit, today welcomed Chase Carey, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of The Formula One Group, together with his senior management team, on their arrival to the Kingdom of Bahrain ahead of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2019.

Upon their arrival, Mr Rahimi congratulated Liberty Media on the work they are doing to support the long-term growth of the sport, as the BIC celebrates 15 years on the F1 calendar.

Arif Rahimi, Chairman of the Bahrain International Circuit, said:

“I welcome Chase Carey and his team to Bahrain, for what we expect to be an unforgettable weekend in the desert.

“I take this opportunity to thank him and the rest of the team at Liberty for all their ongoing work which will support the long-term future of F1. As a circuit, we are aligned with their vision and look forward to working with them to deliver on those aims.

“As we celebrate our 15th anniversary in F1, it’s a natural time to look back at what has been achieved during that period. We continue to deliver sustainable growth, employing local talent, building a long-term fan base of the sport across the region.”

“As the pinnacle of global motorsport, Formula 1 has enabled us to establish ourselves as a global hub for the sport in the region, building up local knowledge and expertise, which is now recognised around the world. As a result, the BIC has contributed significantly to the local economy, through F1 and other events, supporting tourism growth and wider sectors of the economy.

“Finally, I would like to welcome all the teams and officials to the Kingdom, who are all well underway with their preparations for what we hope to be a memorable weekend of racing and entertainment.”
