BIC Chief Executive holds meeting with Minister of Sustainable Development

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa and Corporate Services Director Beshara Abdu Beshara held a meeting with Minister of Sustainable Development Noor bint Ali Al Khelif at her office.

During their official visit, Shaikh Salman and Mr. Beshara discussed with the minister joint-cooperation and the exchange of expertise and experiences.

The meeting took place as BIC, “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, gears up to host the biggest event in the region, the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2023, and it coincided with the start of the national motor racing season, which features a stacked calendar of events.

The two parties discussed strengthening the relationship between BIC and the ministry, along with ways to further develop projects and initiatives—such as the state-of-the-art solar farm located at the circuit’s car park—that can help BIC attain its goal of reducing its impact on the planet and supporting F1’s plan to have net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

For his part, Shaikh Salman expressed BIC’s solidarity with all ministries and government agencies in the Kingdom, and highlighted their significant role in the success of the annual hosting of the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix along with other events throughout the year.

It is worth noting that BIC’s national racing season began in early October and it is set to include a series of international, regional and national races, in addition to many other off-track occasions.
