BIC hosts coordination meeting with ministries, government agencies ahead of F1 Bahrain GP 2022

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) hosted a coordination meeting with the Kingdom’s various ministries and government agencies to discuss all matters related to the organisation of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2022.

Preparations have ramped up for the once-in-a-generation event, happening 18 to 20 March at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East” in Sakhir. The annual gathering is part of Team Bahrain working together to ensure the success of the F1 spectacle.

The meeting was attended by BIC Chief Executive Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa. BIC Governmental Affairs, Security and Safety Senior Manager Beshara Abdu Beshara was also on hand along with other members of the circuit’s executive management and representatives from Bahrain’s public offices.

Shaikh Salman presided over the discussions, which tackled a number of important issues in the hosting of the highly anticipated race weekend.

Shaikh Salman also took the opportunity to thank all Government agencies in Bahrain who work together every year as Team Bahrain to ensure the smooth running of the event, noting that the success of the race weekend would not be possible without such detailed coordination and efforts.

Also during the meeting, BIC presented a detailed plan on the health and safety requirements that are being put in place to protect all those attending from the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

This year’s Bahrain Grand Prix is set to be an historic occasion for the sport, as it ushers in “A New Era” in F1 following the biggest shake-up in rules and regulations in the top flight. Furthermore, being the opening round of the 2022 FIA F1 World Championship, Bahrain’s fans are in the enviable position of being the first in the world to experience the pinnacle of motorsport like never before.
