BIC kicks off final 15-day countdown to race day in Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain 2023

BIC, Sakhir – Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) begins on Friday (20 October) the final 15-day countdown to race day in the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain, the final round of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

The endurance racing spectacle is scheduled to take place 3 and 4 November at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, and the Spirit of Le Mans is once again set to make its presence felt in Sakhir.

Tickets to the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain are available now and fans are urged to purchase theirs today so as not to miss out on the special occasion at BIC. Tickets cost just BD5.500 for adults and BD2.750 for kids for the two-day weekend programme. They can be bought online at bahraingp.com or by calling the BIC Hotline on +973-17450000.

Tickets are priced as one of the most affordable ways to experience a world championship motorsport event at the Kingdom’s globally renowned motor racing facility.

Hospitality packages are also available at the Spirit of Le Mans Club, where guests can experience exclusive cuisine and incredible views in our Paddock hospitality. Packages are also available to purchase online or via the BIC Hotline.

Those who are looking to attend the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain for the first time can expect a very different kind of event at BIC. The mixture of racing with entertainment and shows throughout the weekend makes for a festival atmosphere.

Two days of the best endurance racing in the world will be complemented by incredible record-breaking stunt shows, driving simulators, a classic car show and loads of family entertainment.

Furthermore, BIC’s WEC-exclusive Open Paddock experience allows fans to enjoy unique behind-the-scenes access, getting right next to the teams’ garages and possibly see some of the sport’s star drivers in person, making for a totally different fan experience.

With over a decade of racing history at BIC, the WEC has grown to become a landmark event in Bahrain.

Fans attending will enjoy a never-before-seen Hypercar spectacle. A record number of 12 Hypercars flying the flags of eight teams and six manufacturers will be lining up on the grid, making for the largest-ever entry in the WEC’s top-tier category to hit the tarmac at BIC.

Toyota Gazoo Racing and Peugeot TotalEnergies will be making their return. They will be joined in the Hypercar battles for the first time in Bahrain by Ferrari AF Corse, Porsche Penske Motorsport, Cadillac Racing, Floyd Vanwall Racing Team, Hertz Team JOTA, and Proton Competition.

The Hypercars are just one class in the WEC’s packed grid of more than 35 sportscars. The championship’s two other categories are the Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) and Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance (LMGTE) Am.

This year’s Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain will be the 12th time the WEC will be racing in Sakhir, and the fifth time the event is taking place in its current eight-hour format. They will be tackling BIC’s 5.412-kilometre track from day to night, making for a brilliant spectacle that flags off under the afternoon sun at 2pm and then wraps up beneath the stars at 10pm while being brilliantly lit by BIC’s state-of-the-art floodlights.

Following the tremendous success of the ground-breaking Green Ticket initiative introduced for last year’s WEC race, BIC and Bapco Energies, in cooperation with the Government of Bahrain, are bringing it back for the 2023 event.

For every WEC ticket sold, a proportion of the revenue, matched by Bapco Energies, will be donated to a fund which will directly support the planting of new Mangroves in Bahrain. This programme supports the national target of quadrupling mangrove coverage across the Kingdom by 2035.
