BIC lines up packed programme of track activities for fans all throughout the weekend

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, has lined up a packed programme of activities and experiences this weekend for all to enjoy on track.

Taking place Friday (17 March) will be the latest edition of Batelco Fitness on Track as well as the hugely popular Open Track. Then, on Saturday (18 March) speed enthusiasts will be able to partake in the Track Experience, featuring the high-octane BNI Clio Cup Experiences.

All these fantastic offerings are available only at BIC, and fans are urged to book ahead as all three are amongst the most highly subscribed each time they are held.

To book, visit bahraingp.com or call the BIC Hotline on +973-17450000.

Batelco Fitness on Track will take place between 6am and 10am. Participants will have the opportunity to maintain their health and wellbeing in a casual, safe environment, either on foot or on a bicycle.

All taking part can train or simply casually exercise individually or within groups along BIC’s secure and controlled setting.

The running and cycling will take place on separate track layouts. Runners and walkers will be utilising the 2.550-kilometre Inner Track, while cyclists will be able to ride their bikes along BIC’s 3.543-kilometre Outer circuit, with a dedicated area for children’s cycling.

As in every Batelco Fitness on Track activity, the turnout has been tremendous from the local community, and this is expected to be the same for Friday. All who register must pay upon booking. The cost to take part is BD2 for cyclists and BD1 for runners. Those under the age of 12 can participate for free if accompanied by a paying adult.

Open Track will then take place from 11am to 6pm on Friday.

Those who take part will be able to explore the limits of their cars or motorbikes along BIC’s world-famous 5.412-kilometre Grand Prix circuit—the same raced on by Formula 1’s top stars each year—while having the peace of mind of being within a safe and controlled setting.

Friday’s timing allows for participants to enjoy their drive in various track conditions, including under daylight conditions, at twilight as the sun sets on the desert race track, and in the early evening as BIC’s bright, state-of-the-art floodlights light up the facility.

The cost to take part is BD93.500 for the fully day and BD66 for half the day. A single session costs BD27.500. Customers who pre-book their slots can benefit from reduced rates. The full day would be just BD82.500, a half day BD55 and a single session at BD22.

As in every Open Track activity, those taking part must adhere to the non-competitive setting. Driver etiquette is of ultimate importance, so there is no close or aggressive overtaking permitted. Overtaking is by invitation only between corners and the driving is monitored, with poor or dangerous driving being dealt with swiftly by officials.

Meanwhile, the Track Experience on Saturday will be from 8am to 3pm, and it will feature ultimate thrills in both the BNI Clio Cup Experience and in SR3 and SR1 Radicals.

The BNI Clio Cup Experience includes both a drive and a passenger ride in a Renault Clio Cup car, fitted with a 220bhp engine, a sequential gearbox, and high-performance brakes. The activity gives participants their first ride into the world of motorsport in a high-octane, turbo-boosted sports car and it will surely get the heart racing.

Those who take part in this activity will be given a user-friendly and simple briefing followed by the driving experience on the track with a professional in a lead-follow manner, while the passenger ride is the ultimate co-pilot experience.

The drive in the BNI Clio Cup Experience can be purchased for BD121, while the passenger ride costs BD27.500 per person.

Meanwhile, a Radical SR1 drive can be enjoyed in an SR1 car that boasts an engine that can generate 185bhp. It launches from zero to 100kph in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 222kph. This drive costs BD132, and completing the BNI Clio Cup drive is a prerequisite to taking part in the SR1 experience.

In addition to this, a passenger experience in a Radical SR3 car is also on offer at a cost of BD38.500.
