Drag racers lighting up BIC strip in round three of national championship

Things are heating up on the drag strip at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), as the third round of the 2018/2019 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship takes place.

The meeting has already gotten underway with Test and Tune on Tuesday and Wednesday, but the intensity is about to turn with Qualifying on Thursday (January 10) and Race Day on Friday (January 11).

Being the region’s biggest and most competitive drag racing series, scores of participants from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE and beyond will be joining the nation’s leading talents as they go head to head in what promises to be another exciting round.

BIC’s quarter-mile drag strip, a member of the prestigious National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Worldwide Network, is the venue for these heated battles.

The participants will be vying for podium places, points and ultimate bragging rights in the various competition classes, including the Outlaw FWD, Super Street 6-Cylinder, Outlaw 6-Cylinder, Street V8, Competition 4.5, Outlaw 10.5, Pro Mod, Index 10.5, Index 9.5, Index 8.5, Street Fight Bikes, Street Bikes, Super Street Bikes.

Racing on Thursday begins at 4pm and on Friday at 6.30pm.

All are welcome to attend the round. For Qualifying and Race Day, tickets are BD5 at the Start Line Grandstand, while tickets are BD3 for both days at the Batelco Grandstand. Children aged from three to 12 years old can attend for half the price.

This week’s meeting follows the hugely exciting first two rounds held in November and December of last year.

The 2018/2019 campaign features five rounds in all. Round four is scheduled from February 19 to 23, and then the championship finale will be held from February 26 to March 2.
