Family entertainment galore to bring excitement off the track this WEC weekend at BIC

A wide array of fun, family-oriented attractions await fans this weekend in the 2024 WEC 8 Hours of Bahrain, powered by Bapco Energies, taking place at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

The highly anticipated FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season-finale will be bringing the Spirit of Le Mans to ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’ this Friday and Saturday (1 and 2 February). And while the racing will be the main draw, the stellar entertainment programme offers plenty more to see and do all throughout the two-day event.

They can be enjoyed from when BIC gates open to fans at 10.30am on both days until the night. Gates are scheduled to close at 6.30pm on Friday and at 10pm on Saturday.

Space Jam: A New Legacy Experience

Headlining the engaging offerings will be the ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy Experience’, which celebrates the Warner Bros Pictures film of the same name.

Fans will need to get ready for a whole new jam as they are treated to a high-energy experience like no other, created in partnership with Warner Bros Discovery Global Experiences and Eventbox.

At this incredible attraction, race-goers will get to watch thrilling trick basketball demonstrations with dunks that are out of this world, while listening to a live DJ turn it up with some breaking beats, including the film’s iconic soundtrack.

A themed kids activity area will keep the young ones on their toes. This includes games like a Looney Tunes character puzzle, free-throw basketball challenge, and a colouring wall, just to name a few. Many photo opportunities will also be on hand, including the ultimate UV room for that perfect image, making this experience one not to miss!

Additionally, visitors will have the chance to meet members of the Tune Squad, with Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny greeting fans at the experience!

Kids’ stage shows

Young children attending the WEC weekend with their families will have even more to keep busy with in a series of delightful kids’ stage shows.

These include the Dance Dollz sing-along show, the Pirate Adventure Show, the You Can’t Stop the Beat party dance show, and the Messy Magic Adventure show.

The Dance Dollz are a group of colourful and energetic girls and boys who love to sing and dance. With their sparkly costumes, big personalities, incredible voices, and awesome dance moves, they are sure to be a hit with children of all ages.

The Pirate Adventure Show will give youngsters the chance to meet the mischievous ‘Captain Blackheart’, his first mate ‘Pretty Polly’, and their ‘All-Singing, All-Dancing Crew’, as they take fans on a journey through the stormy seas in search of golden treasure. They will be stopping at various ports along the way, experiencing local delights and festivities, and all those on hand will be joining them.

The You Can’t Stop the Beat party dance show features sensational super sparkly dancers, who will be presenting an array of feel-good, sing-along and dance-along songs. With bright, colourful costumes and pom poms galore, race-goers will get the opportunity to meet and greet the cast after their show.

The Messy Magic Adventure show will introduce kids to Spray and Wipe – two cleaners who have been hired for their most exciting job ever: cleaning a magician’s house! But when they accidentally let the magic out of its box, everything is turned topsy-turvy. The audience must help get the magic back in the box before the magician comes home, but her house gets messier and messier! Fans can expect magic, mayhem, and pies in the face in this crazy yet fun-filled adventure.

Furthermore, youngsters will get to enjoy all kinds of exciting activities, such as LED bumper cars, miniature-train rides, a jumping castle, a balloon twister, a live graffiti wall, face painting, and much more.

Roaming acts

Fans will get to engage with an army of the most talented and colourful performers from around the world who will be roaming around the BIC vending area and interacting with spectators.

These loveable acts, who will be bringing smiles to all, include the Checker Boards roaming drummers, stilt-walkers such as the Animateurs and the Colourful Walker, the acrobatic Tennis Star Juggler, Poom-Cha the comedic one-man band, the Miss C Balloonologist balloon mime act, The Bucket Boy street drummer, and the Fleurs roaming face painters and hair stylists.

Aside from these, all those attending will be able to step into the Giant Ferris Wheel – a favourite at BIC’s major international events, feel the rush in life-like racing simulators, test their reflexes in a Batak reaction game used by professional drivers, and be amazed in a classic car show featuring some of the rarest and most vintage automobiles.

All these plus so much more have been lined up in signature BIC style at this year’s WEC 8 Hours of Bahrain, powered by Bapco Energies.

Fans wishing to attend the WEC event can purchase their grandstand tickets for the weekend at BD5.5 for adults and BD2.75 for children for the two days.

All tickets sold will help make a positive environmental impact in the Kingdom, as BIC and Bapco Energies are bringing back their ground-breaking Green Ticket Initiative, which will greatly contribute to achieving the national target of quadrupling mangrove coverage across the Kingdom by 2035.
