Ghiotto grabs pole for F2 Feature Race on Saturday

Luca Ghiotto captured pole position for this weekend’s Feature Race in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, taking place in support of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2019. 

The Italian steered UNI-Virtuosi Racing to the front of the grid after topping the Qualifying timesheet with a best lap of 1m 40.504s.

With the result, Ghiotto claimed the first pole of his Formula 2 career.

Formula 2’s Feature Race takes place Saturday at BIC. It is scheduled for a 1.10pm start and it will be held over 32 laps, which is 173.184km.

Carlin’s Louis Deletraz of Switzerland finished the Qualifying session in second place just 0.367s off Ghiotto’s pace.

 

 

It will also mark Deletraz’s first time to appear on the front row in Formula 2.

Nyck De Vries of ART Grand Prix starts from third after finishing 0.460s behind the pole-sitter.

Nicholas Latifi of DAMS, Jack Aitken of Campos Racing and Nobuharu Matsushita of Carlin were fourth through sixth, respectively.

Completing first five rows were Sean Gelael of Prema Racing, Sergio Sette Camara of DAMS, Ralph Boschung of Trident and Mick Schumacher of Prema.
