National titles to be won in drag racing’s season-finale Friday at BIC

Months of sleepless nights and never-ending fine tuning are about to come to an end as the final Race Day of the 2018/2019 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship takes place Friday (March 1) at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

Dreams will be realised by some and hearts will be broken for others as there can only be 13 champions crowned as the season comes to a
thrilling conclusion. These winners will also be honoured with prestigious Wally trophies, given only to a select few around the world by US-based drag racing body the National Hot Rod Association.

Friday’s action is scheduled to begin from 6pm onwards and is expected to continue until the wee hours of Saturday morning.

The racing will take place along BIC’s quarter-mile drag strip, which is a member of the prestigious NHRA Worldwide Network.

More than 100 participants from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, and beyond join Bahrain’s leading drag racing talents for one final evening of head-to-head battles. The categories in which they are racing in include the Outlaw FWD, Super Street 6-Cylinder, Outlaw 6-Cylinder, Street V8, Competition 4.5, Outlaw 10.5, Pro Mod, Index 10.5, Index 9.5, Index 8.5, Street Fight Bikes, Street Bikes, Super Street Bikes.

The final round has already gotten underway, with two nights of Test and Tune on Tuesday and Wednesday and Qualifying on Thursday.

Tickets for Friday’s Race Day are BD5 at the Start Line Grandstand and BD3 for the Batelco Grandstand. Children aged from three to 12
years old can attend for half the price.

Meanwhile, those in attendance can also get a taste of the action with BIC’s popular and immensely electrifying Dragster Experience. This is one of the circuit’s most unique and ultimate adrenaline-pumping activities, as it takes participants from zero to 100kph in just one second while seated in a Top Dragster.

The Dragster Experience costs BD42, while in a current special offer, a second participant can join in on the heart-stopping activity for half the price.
