Peugeot TotalEnergies topped the timesheet today in the opening World Endurance Championship (WEC) Free Practice session of the 2024 WEC 8 Hours of Bahrain, powered by Bapco Energies.
The highly anticipated WEC season-finale flagged off behind closed doors at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, in Sakhir, and the #94 Peugeot crew of Stoffel Vandoorne, Paul Di Resta, and Loic Duval emerged as the early pace-setters amongst the star-studded WEC cast.
BIC is now ready to welcome fans for the endurance racing spectacle on Friday and Saturday (1 and 2 November). Gates are scheduled to open at 10.30am on both days. On Friday, gates will close at 6.30pm, and on Saturday at 10pm.
Grandstand tickets are still available for fans wishing to attend WEC weekend. They cost BD5.5 for adults and BD2.75 for children for the two-day event. Tickets can be bought at the gate, online at bahraingp.com, or by calling the BIC Hotline on +973-17450000.
All tickets sold will help make a positive environmental impact in the Kingdom, as BIC and Bapco Energies have brought back the ground-breaking Green Ticket Initiative, which will greatly contribute to achieving the national target of quadrupling mangrove coverage across the Kingdom by 2035.
Race-goers will be able to watch plenty of top-class racing with the WEC’s Hypercars and LMGT3 contenders along with the supporting Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East (PCCME).
They will also be able to enjoy an Open Paddock experience throughout the two days – an initiative that is unique to the WEC event, allowing race-goers to access the paddock where they will likely run into the WEC’s superstar drivers.
Aside from the racing, there is also a wide array of off-track entertainment for the whole family, headlined by the ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy’ Experience, which celebrates the Warner Bros Pictures live-action film of the same name.
Fans can check BIC’s social media accounts for all that is available and their timings on both days.
In today’s first 90-minute WEC practice, the Vandoorne-Di Resta-Duval triumvirate posted a best lap of one minute 50.837 seconds in their Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar.
