Six-hour enduro karting set for intense action at BIKC Saturday

The stage is set for another grueling test of motor racing prowess as the second round of the 2018/2019 Bahrain Karting Enduro Championship (BKEC) takes place Saturday (January 26) at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.

A grid of no less than 11 entrants is set to compete in the highly anticipated six-hour event. They will be battling it out for placing in four classes, including the Overall, Pro, Corporate and Nations.

The participants include Bapco Engineering, Bapco Lubes, Bapco Motorsports, GO Bahrain, Racing Bahrain, Racing Bahrain Jr, Ithmaar Bank, Ice Racing, Pedal to the Metal, Redline Racing and Redline Racing 1.

Racing will take place along BIKC’s 1.414-kilometre Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) Track. The drivers will be behind the wheel of identical 390cc Sodi GT4R go karts.

Sign-in for competitors on Saturday is scheduled to be held from 7.30am to 9am. A Drivers’ Briefing will then be held at 9.05am, after which the on-track action begins with Qualifying Practice at 9.50am.

Final Qualifying follows at 10.45am, setting the stage for the six-hour race, which is scheduled to flag off at 11.30am.

The podium ceremony is scheduled to take place at around 6pm.

The 2018/2019 BKEC is set to be a hotly contested series featuring four hugely exciting rounds.

The season-opening meeting was held in October of last year as a three-hour race. Round three will be a 12-hour event, while the year’s ultimate challenge, the championship finale and the most highly anticipated event of the season: the 24-hour fourth round.

The BKEC is a part of the national karting season, which also features the Bahrain Karting Sprint Championship.
