Stanek goes fastest for Trident in F3 practice

Roman Stanek was fastest today in the season-opening practice session of the 2022 FIA Formula 3 Championship, held as part of this weekend’s events in the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Bahrain International Circuit.

The Czech driver clocked a best lap time of one minute 48.012 in the 45-minute session behind the wheel of his Trident car.

Arthur Leclerc, younger brother of Monegasque F1 ace Charles Leclerc, finished second with a time of 1:48.090 in his Prema Racing challenger, while Gregoire Saucy from Switzerland came third for ART Grand Prix in 1:48.099.

Rounding off the top eight were Isack Hadjar of Hitech Grand Prix, Franco Colapinto of Van Amersfoort Racing, Oliver Bearman and Jak Crawford both of Prema, and Rafael Villagomez, also for Van Amersfoort.

All 30 of F3’s drivers competing this season took part in the practice.

They will be back in action at 4.30pm for qualifying, which will set the starting grid for the weekend’s feature race on Sunday.
