The region’s premier drag racing series is back for the second successive week at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) as “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East” holds the third round of the 2021 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship.

The meeting has already gotten underway with two nights of Test and Tune held Tuesday and Wednesday (February 9 and 10).

The action heats up on Thursday (February 11) with Qualifying, which then sets the stage for Race Day on Friday (February 12) as competitors take to BIC’s quarter-mile strip for the exciting eliminations. Racing begins at 4pm on both days.

The event is being held with strict health protection measures in place, in line with Government regulations and guidance.

Top drag racers and their crews from Bahrain, across the Gulf and the US are returning to BIC and among the winners from last week who will be looking for repeat success are Bahrain1 Racing’s star driver Khalid Al Balooshi in the Pro Mod category and Bapco Motorsport Team’s Hani Hussain in the Index 8.5 class.

Other victorious drivers flying the Bahrain flag were Mahmood Mohammed (Outlaw 4), Ali Al Khunezi (Outlaw 6), Hussain Mohammed (Super Street V8), Abdulrahman Askar (Index 10.5), Hamad Ahmed (Street Fight Bikes), Ali Bahram (Index 8.5 Bike) and Yusuf Hilal (Super Street Bikes).

The meeting’s winners’ list was completed by Emiratis Obaid Al Balooshi (Competition 4.5) and Hamdan Alkaabi (Index 9.0).

The 2021 campaign continues until April. Following this week’s third round, the fourth and penultimate meeting will be held from February 23 to 26. That will set the stage for the championship-finale, slated for April 13 to 16.

The Bahrain Drag Racing Championship is being organised and run by BIC, the Bahrain Motor Federation and the Bahrain Drag Racing Club.
