Bahrain Drag Racing Championship wraps up 2024/2025 season with thrilling finale at BIC

  • Seven Bahrainis triumph in final round, including Ahmed Jamal, Salman Al Mahmood, Sayed Mohamed Salman, Yousif Alzayani, Tareq Hadi, Mohammed Altaytoon, and Mohammed Albanki

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, hosted last weekend the fifth and final race weekend of the 2024/2025 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship.

Seven Bahraini competitors emerged victorious in the final meeting of the season. They included Ahmed Jamal, Salman Al Mahmood, Sayed Mohamed Salman, Yousif Alzayani, Tareq Hadi, Mohammed Altaytoon, and Mohammed Albanki.

They headlined a field of close to 150 participants that hit the strip as the curtains came down on another hugely thrilling drag racing season. Nearly 90 of the competitors were in action in their respective cars, while the rest were on motorbikes.

They lit up the quarter-mile, which is a part of the U.S.-based National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Worldwide Network.

The Bahrain Drag Racing Championship, which is the region’s premier series in this exciting category of motorsport, is an NHRA-sanctioned event, organised and run by BIC, in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation, the Bahrain Drag Racing Commission, and the Bahrain Motorcycle Commission.

Ahmed Jamal clinched his victory in the 10.0 Index class. He secured first place after clocking a pass of 10.002 seconds at 208.85kph to beat out Ali Rabeea, who had a break out, in their final elimination. Mubarak Aldoseri finished third.

Salman Al Mahmood was the winner in the Outlaw 4-Cylinder class. He had a winning run of 13.747s at 171.54kph to defeat Ali Mahfood’s 15.254s at 146.55kph.

Sayed Mohamed Salman followed suit by taking the 7.5 Index category with a 7.962s mark in their decisive elimination at 280.21kph. He outpaced runner-up Sayed Hussain Salman’s 17.267s time at 177.03kph. Abdulrahman Alabdulla finished third.

Yousif Alzayani took the victory in the Outlaw 6-Cylinder division with a winning run of 4.924s in the final at 173.90kph. Ali Alkhenaizi had a red light, gifting his rival first place. Faisal Alarabi was also on the podium.

Tareq Hadi was the big winner in the Pro Mod category, where he registered a pass of 4.187s at 290.04kph in the final. He beat Abdulrahman Bo Alwa, who had to settle for second with a 4.437s run at 246.37kph.

Mohammed Altaytoon took the win in the Street Fight Bikes 9.5 class, clocking a mark of 9.659s at 215.61kph. Mohammed Abdulkarim was second in 9.746s at 203.88kph, while Mohammed Albanki came third.

Albanki then captured the victory in the 8.5 Index Bikes category, winning with a mark of 8.585s at 238.88kph. Fadi Abujamous was the runner-up with marks of 8.491s at 234.66kph, and Ali Bahram finished third.

Other winners in the round included Mohamed Alkokhardi and Obaid Al Balooshi of the UAE, Ahmed Alsaeei of Kuwait, and the Saudi Arabian trio of Abdulla Alshamsi, Khalid Aldossary, and Jihad Aljamal.

Mohamed Alkokhardi triumphed in the 9.0 Index class with a pass of 9.051s at 237.77kph in the final. His opponent Sulaiman Alsanousi had a break out. Ahmed Haider finished third.

Obaid Al Balooshi took the win in the Competition 4.5 class with a winning time of 4.542s at 246.95kph. He defeated Mohammed Al Faras, who had marks of 4.549s at 254.14kph.

Ahmed Alsaeei took first place in the 8.5 Index category. He had a time of 21.910s at 96.84kph, beating Ali Alkhamiri’s 23.618s at 91.06kph. Fawaz Alawadhi joined them on the podium.

Abdulla Alshamsi was victorious in the Pro 29.5 V8 division with a run of 4.889s at 218.49kph in the decisive elimination. He beat Nabeel Alessa, who clocked 12.288s at 58.00kph. Ali Abdulrahman was third.

Khalid Aldossary won amongst the Pro Street Bikes competitors with a pass of 4.743s at 246.57kph in the final. Mishari Alturki was the runner-up in 5.012s at 193.91kph. Nasser Bo Hasher came third.

Jihad Aljamal claimed the win in the Outlaw Bikes class with a time of 4.426s at 278.81kph in the final. Aldossary was this time the runner-up in 11.191s at 88.40kph and Saad Turki third.

Following all the action, the winners were presented their trophies for the round in the podium ceremonies.

The champions of the 2024/2025 campaign will now be presented their respective Wally trophies in an end-of-season awards night.
