Bahrain karting season set to feature plenty of intense, wheel-to-wheel racing at BIKC

  • Sakhir Rotax MAX Challenge to get 2023/2024 battles underway this weekend with back-to-back rounds at Kingdom’s world-class grassroots motorsport track

The 2023/2024 national karting season is right around the corner and Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC), the world-class grassroots motorsport facility at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir, is all set to host the Kingdom’s top karters for plenty of exciting, wheel-to-wheel action.

BIKC will once again be the setting for two of the most competitive motor racing championships on the island, including the Sakhir Rotax MAX Challenge (SRMC) and the Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge (BRMC).

The SRMC and BRMC are for individual racers, who will be competing against one another in sprint races in their very own Rotax-powered karts. Racing is held in various age categories, including the Micro MAX, Mini MAX, Junior MAX, Senior MAX, Senior Masters and DD2.

All interested participants are invited to take part in each fun yet hotly contested series. Those looking to compete are advised to contact BIKC at the soonest on +973-1745-1745.

The season gets underway this weekend with back-to-back rounds in the SRMC. The title fight flags off with rounds one and two on Friday and Saturday (Editor’s note: 20 and 21 October), while rounds three and four will be held on 27 and 28 October.

In both of this weekend’s meetings, action will begin with Qualifying Practice from 11.20am, followed by the Pre-Finals from 12.28pm. That will set the starting grids for the Finals, beginning with the Micro and Mini categories at 2.16pm. The Junior follows at 2.41pm, and then the Senior and Senior Masters take to the track at 3.21pm. The concluding Final for the DD2 category begins at 4.01pm.

The podium ceremony on each day is scheduled to get underway at 5.01pm.

Members of the general public wishing to enjoy an Arrive-and-Drive session at BIKC this weekend will only be able to get out on track from 6pm onwards following the completion of the SRMC action.

The SRMC will then be followed this national racing season by the BRMC starting in December, with eight rounds set to take place in 2023/2024.

Round one will be held on 15 December, and then rounds two and three will follow in the new calendar year on 12 and 13 January. Round four will take place 26 January, followed by another double-header on 9 and 10 February for rounds five and six. The BRMC’s penultimate meeting will then take place on 23 February, paving the way for the championship finale on 8 March.

There is plenty to look forward to at BIKC in the 2023/2024 season, which promises plenty of thrilling action.
