BIC 2,000cc Challenge set for exciting 2019/2020 season

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, is getting all geared up to host another exciting season of the ultra-competitive BIC 2,000cc Challenge.

The 2019/2020 campaign is scheduled to flag off this Friday (Editor’s note: October 4) with the first of seven rounds, being held under the Circuit Racing Club (CRC) banner.

On-track action officially got over underway last weekend with pre-season testing along BIC’s 2.55-kilometre Inner Track.

A majority of the drivers competing this season took part in the tests, which took place under BIC’s state-of-the-art floodlights.

Defending champion Tareq Al Tajer was among the testers. He was behind the wheel of his red Ford Focus, with which he hopes to defend his title from a star-studded field that includes former champions Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Shaikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and Raed Himmo, along with many other highly talented racers.

Riders competing in the Bahrain Motorcycle Racing (BMR) 600 were also out on track testing for their championship.

The tests set the stage for this weekend’s start to the new campaign, which is being run by the CRC in cooperation with BIC and the Bahrain Motor Federation.

Following the curtain-raiser, Round Two will be held on November 1, followed by Round Three on December 20. That will be the final event of 2019. Round Four will usher in 2020 on January 24, after which Round
Five is scheduled for February 21. Round Six is slated for March 6 as the penultimate event of the season, which then culminates with Round Seven on April 17.

Three of this campaign’s seven meetings will be held as night events, namely the first, sixth and final rounds.

BIC is calling on motorsport lovers to attend and enjoy the excitement at each race day.
