BIC pushes on with commitment to sustainability with contactless business cards for staff

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) continues to push forward with its commitment to sustainability by issuing its staff with revolutionary contactless business cards.

Designed and supplied by U.K.-based company V1CE, these business cards feature Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that allow contactless data transfer between devices.

Standard business cards of the past have usually been paper-based, but BIC’s V1CE business cards have been produced with environmentally friendly bamboo materials and are designed in the circuit’s own unique branding.

BIC staff members can use the card’s NFC technology to share their information such as contact details and social media specifics by simply tapping the card against a smartphone.

No apps are required for the V1CE cards to work and they are compatible with all major smartphone brands and models, along with their operating systems.

These V1CE business cards provide additional convenience for both the card holder and the person receiving the information. They also eliminate the need for paper-based business cards, which contributes to the lessening of paper usage.

Laurence Jones, Senior Manager, Marketing and communications, and Bahrain International Circuit, said:

“The launch of our contactless business cards is another step in our commitment to building a sustainable future and limiting our impact on the planet. We are delighted to be working with V1CE, which has developed leading technology in this area, whilst the cards themselves are also responsibly sourced.”

Roger Hadley, Operation Manager, V1CE, said:

“We are delighted to be officially linked with BIC and its partners to be part of the change to attain carbon neutrality within the region. Our sustainability values are in line with BIC and VICE is proud and honored to be recognized -in the Kingdom of Bahrain as a trusted entity fulfilling the future of the targeted values. “

“The Formula 1 event was an excellent weekend of opportunities for our team who were impressed by the unrivaled professionalism, hospitality, kindness and the welcome they received. We look forward to working with BIC and -its partners -in the future and continue to grow alongside them & across the globe, encompassing the transition from the paper business cards into the digital age.”

BIC has joined the likes of Google, Emirates, Jumeirah and McDonald’s as world-renowned clients utilising the V1CE contactless business cards.

This is just the latest of many initiatives lined up by BIC in its commitment towards sustainability and to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s net zero carbon ambitions.

Earlier this month at the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2022, BIC announced the completion of its major solar project. The new facility more than covers the energy requirements of the F1 weekend and thus reduced BIC’s carbon footprint and generated significant energy savings.

BIC has also recently transferred much of its finance and HR operations to digital systems, saving significantly on previous paper-based procedures.
