BIC stage set for spectacular celebrations marking Kingdom of Bahrain’s 50th National Day

BIC stage set for spectacular celebrations marking Kingdom of Bahrain’s 50th National Day

The stage is set at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) for a spectacular celebration of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s 50th National Day on Thursday (15 December).

A packed day-long programme of four major events are lined up for all to enjoy at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”.

They will be headlined by plenty of world-class racing with the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) 2021 and the 2021/2022 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship (BDRC). Then, to complement the action, a Batelco National Day Concert featuring music icons Flipperachi, Mohammed Rabeea and Jaber Al Turki, along with one of the biggest fireworks displays of National Day, will take place to complete the festival mood.

The RMCGF have been going on all week and Thursday will see racing resume in the Qualifying Heats, starting from around 10am.

More than 400 karters from 75 countries are taking part in the event. They are battling it out in seven different categories, including the Micro MAX, the Mini MAX, the Junior MAX, the Senior MAX, the DD2, DD2 Masters and the EKART Senior.

All are welcome to attend, free of charge. However, due to limited capacity, entry will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

The BDRC is holding the second round of its current season and Race Day is set to take place Thursday. The eliminations are scheduled to get things going at 4pm and the action will continue into the night along BIC’s world-famous drag strip, which is a part of the U.S.-based National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Worldwide Network.

Huge crowds are expected to turn out for the most popular national championship on the BIC calendar. Tickets are available online at BIC’s official website bahraingp.com and at the gate. They cost BD5 for the Start Line Grandstand and BD3 for the Batelco Grandstand for Race Day. Tickets for children aged 12 and under are half price.

Meanwhile, off the track, the Batelco National Day Concert will be held from 730pm to 9pm at BIC. Entry is BD1 and all proceeds will go towards the Royal Humanitarian Foundation. Tickets are now available on the Batelco app and online at batelco.com.

Prior to the musical spectacle, a brilliant fireworks display will light up the sky above the Sakhir desert with vibrant colours, starting at 7pm.

The show can be enjoyed from BIC’s various parking lots absolutely free, or from the surrounding areas around the circuit. BIC advises the public to arrive early to avoid delays due to the large crowd expected.
