National Rotax Championship set for penultimate round

Bahrain International Circuit will today host the seventh penultimate round of the National Rotax Karting Championship at Kart Zone.

The season is headed for an exciting climax as the battle for both the seniors and juniors titles heat up.

Racing starts at 5.30pm this afternoon and is expected to round up by 9pm in the evening.

The championship is quickly gaining in popularity and more drivers enter each round.

Heading into tonight’s races, Ali Dadi will be looking to maintain his position at the top of the seniors division, which he currently occupies with 351 points. Dadi is followed closely by Lee Stones in second place with 332 points.

Mohammed Al Alawi is third with 301, and Darren Di Mattia in fourth with 300 points. Bader Haider comes in fifth on the table with 293 points in the championship but still in reach of the leaders.

Graham Pervis is sixth on 280, while Yahya Mohammed Ali is in seventh place with 273 points and Wesley Carr eighth on 270.

In the juniors championship standings, up to three drivers are in tight competition for the crown. Omar Fareed tops all competitors’ with353 points in first. He holds a slim lead ahead of Vishesh Mhatre, who has 344 points. Christian Yarwood is in third place with 326 points, while Ryan Hesp is within striking distance on 288 points in fourth place.

Dadi and Fareed were both victorious in their respective groups during the previous round of racing. They hope to extend their fine showing with another victory today.

All are welcome to attend the race meeting and cheer for some of the Kingdom’s top karting talents, some of whom may build form their experience in the series and move on to international single-seater racing.
