Back-to-back nights of Open Track thrills set for this weekend at BIC

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, is bringing the action back to the public this weekend with back-to-back nights of Open Track in Sakhir.

Following a break during the hot summer months, BIC is wasting no time in its return to offering the most sought-after driving and passenger experiences to speed lovers and thrill seekers alike.

Taking place Friday and Saturday (October 10 and 11), Open Track gives participants the chance to bring their very own cars or motorbikes and take them for a spin around a world-famous racing circuit.

While such an activity helps fulfill the racing dreams of many, Open Track is a non-competitive event that allows drivers to explore their vehicle’s performance within a safe and controlled environment. Driver etiquette is of ultimate importance, so there is no close or aggressive overtaking. Overtaking is by invitation between corners and driving is monitored, with poor or dangerous driving dealt with swiftly by officials.

Friday’s Open Track will be held along BIC’s 2.55-kilometre Inner Track, while Saturday’s running will take place along the 5.412-kilometre Grand Prix Track.

Registration can be done at BIC itself from 3pm onwards. The track sessions will then be held from 4pm to 11pm each night.

Being one of the most popular public activities at BIC, the back-to-back Open Track nights are expected to draw in scores of participants and their sports cars and motorbikes, some of which are rarely ever seen hitting the streets. Many of these top-of-the-line automobiles will be brought in from all over the Gulf.

The cost to take part for the full night of Open Track is BD94.500 and for the half night is BD68.500. There is also an option for a single session for BD31.500. Discounts are available for those who book their slots in advance.

Also set to be held as part of both Open Track nights are the Jaguar Experience, the Clio Cup Passenger Experience and the Radial SR3 Passenger Experience.

Delivered through a unique and tailored drive, the Jaguar Experience has been designed to ensure that all guests are given a dynamic, hands-on and memorable experience on the track in a Jaguar F-Type. The cost for the Jaguar Experience is BD63.

The Clio Cup car is a Renault-manufactured racing machine that features a 1.6-litre Turbocharged engine that can generate up to 220bhp and 6,000rpm. The passenger experience can be purchased for BD26.500.

The Radical SR3 boasts an RPE-Suzuki Generation 1,340 DOHC engine. It can go from zero to 100kmh in 3.4 seconds, and also has a six-speed sequential gearbox and paddle gearshift system. The SR3 passenger ride costs BD37.
