BIC begins final 10-day countdown to F1 Bahrain Grand Prix 2019

Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) launches on Monday (March 18) the final 10-day countdown to the event everybody’s waiting for: the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2019.

Motorsport fans can brace for “Limitless” thrills and amusement at the four-day weekend of sport and entertainment, which takes place March 28 to 31 in Sakhir.

Excitement for the Formula 1 spectacle has already reached fever pitch, with BIC delivering an impressive nation-wide promotional campaign as part of the race build-up. These include giant billboards and colourful flags along major highways across the island, eye-catching electronic gates at the entrances to Juffair and Seef District, Grand Prix-branded Jaguar vehicles roaming Bahrain’s streets, print and digital advertisements in all kinds of media platforms, and even a massive ad running down the 47-storey Almoayyed Tower in Seef, plus so much more.

The season-opening Australian Grand Prix thrilled the racing world on Sunday, as World champions Mercedes claimed a fine one-two
triumph led by Finn superstar Valtteri Bottas. All eyes now turn to the Kingdom of Bahrain and BIC for the second round of the 2019 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.

The 57-lap sprint at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East” will mark the 999th World Championship race in the history of the top
flight, and it is being held as part of BIC’s landmark 15th season. It is also the sixth time the event is taking place under BIC’s state-of-the-art floodlights as a night race in the heart of the Arabian desert.

Aside from Formula 1, the weekend’s programme will also include action from the FIA Formula 2 Championship season-opener and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East championship finale.

Also, there will be loads of off-track attractions, highlighted by the back-to-back live performances of Martin Garrix on the Friday of the event and Kygo on the Saturday.

To add to that, there are magnificent rides that are featuring at the Bahrain Grand Prix for the very first time, including a Ferris Wheel, a Star Flyer and a Venetian Carousel.

Furthermore, an interactive F1 Fanzone will give race-goers a taste of what it is like to be in motorsport’s top flight, The Mummy’s Tomb will give you chills should you be brave enough to make a visit, and everyone will be able to enjoy the various kids’ activities, carnival games and roaming performers on hand including buskers, balloon-makers, dancers and magicians, to name a few.

Tickets are selling fast for the Grand Prix weekend, which is set to be open to the public over four days for the first time.

Tickets for seating to the Main Grandstand are BD150 apiece. A Batelco Grandstand ticket for all four days originally costs BD120, but there are also two other options for Batelco Grandstand seats. For a ticket to Saturday and Sunday only, the cost is BD100, while for Friday only it is BD60. A four-day ticket to the Turn One Grandstand is BD100 before any discount; whereas University and Victory Grandstand tickets are originally BD60 apiece.

It is worth noting that BIC is covering the Value Added Tax (VAT) on all Bahrain Grand Prix ticket prices, saving fans from any additional expense to attend the Formula 1 spectacle. The prices continue to be amongst the most competitive for any event on the Formula 1 calendar.
