BIC set for National Race Day thrills Friday and Saturday in Sakhir

An extra-special edition of National Race Day is set to take place on Friday and Saturday (March 8 and 9) at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

Five championships are set to be held along two world-class tracks at “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”. Headlining all the action are the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East and the BIC 2,000cc Challenge, both of which will be racing on the 5.412-kilometre Grand Prix track.

Also set for some heated battles are the Bahrain Motorcycle Racing (BMR) 600, the Bahrain Supersport Championship (BSSP) 125 and the Bahrain Superbike Championship (BSBK). They will be racing along BIC’s 2.55-kilometre Inner Circuit.

The Porsche GT3 Cup will feature three races, while every other series will have two.

All are welcome to attend the event. Tickets can be purchased at gate. They cost BD2 apiece for adults, while children aged 13 and below can get in for half the price.

The Porsche GT3 Cup and the BIC 2,000cc will be kicking off all the action on Friday.

Competitors in the 2,000cc will be out first at 9.30am with Practice, to be followed at 10.55am by Qualifying. Race One then follows at 1.15pm and Race Two at 2.50pm, both over six laps.

The Porsche GT3 Cup sessions will take place over two days. The weekend’s first pair of Qualifying sessions are scheduled for 10.10am and 11.40am on Friday, with Race One at 2pm. On Saturday, a third Qualifying will begin at 11.30am, with Race Two at 1.25pm and then Race Three at 4.35pm. All three races will run over 14 laps.

Also on Friday, action in the BMR 600, BSSP 125 and BSBK will take place.

BSSP 125 Practice is scheduled for 3.30pm, to be followed by Qualifying at 5.15pm. Race One will be at 6.37pm and Race Two at 8.13pm, both over eight laps.

The BMR 600 will begin their programme with Practice at 4.05pm and Qualifying at 5.40pm. The opening sprint will then flag off at 7.09pm and then race two at 8.45pm. Both races are over 11 laps.

BSBK gets underway at 4.40pm with Practice and then Qualifying at 6.05pm. That sets the stage for Race One at 7.41pm and Race Two at 9.17pm. Each sprint will also be held over 11 laps.
