Daruvala fastest again in F2 post-season testing at BIC

Jehan Daruvala topped the timesheet for the second successive day of Formula 2 post-season testing today at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

The Carlin driver clocked a fastest time of 1min 41.686secs around BIC’s 5.412-kilometre Grand Prix track during the three-hour afternoon session, which wrapped up under lights.

Daruvala completed a total of 34 laps of work.

Robert Shwartzman of Prema Racing followed 0.167secs off the pace, while Dan Ticktum of Carlin was 0.364secs behind in third.

Liam Lawson of Hitech Grand Prix was fourth on the times, Marcus Armstrong of Dams fifth, Felipe Drugovich of Uni-Virtuosi sixth and Louis Deletraz of MP Motorsport seventh, with David Beckmann of Charouz Racing System rounding out the top eight.

Guillerme Samala in the other Charouz car and Clement Novalak of Trident completed the top 10.

Jaruvala’s time was quicker than the best lap of 1:42.244 set in the morning session by Ralph Boschung of Campos Racing. Boschung completed 33 laps of testing over three hours in daylight conditions.

Daruvala was just 0.027secs slower in the session, while Lawson followed 0.093secs back.

Juri Vips of Hitech, Christian Lundgaard of ART Grand Prix, Drugovich, Armstrong and Ticktum, Roy Nissany driving the second Dams, and Marino Sato of Trident were all in the top 10.

A total of 22 runners took part in the day’s tests.

Another two sessions will take place Thursday (December 10) on the final day of testing. The tests follow the completion of the 2020 F2 season, which held its final two rounds at BIC over the past couple of weeks.
