Kids’ zone set to feature wide array of fun and colourful attractions this Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain

Children attending this weekend’s Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain with their families have plenty to look forward to as Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) has set up a colourful Kids’ Zone with plenty of fun and exciting activities.

The highly anticipated global motorsport event is happening this Friday and Saturday (11 and 12 November) as the season-ending round of the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). But the excitement will not only be on the track, as “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East” has lined up a series of wonderful attractions for all the family to enjoy at the BIC vending area.

There will be a number of carnival games for the kids to take part in such as a spin-the-wheel, basketball hoops, a ring toss, Hungry Clowns, frisbee throws and Pirate Stomp; as well as a series of amusing rides including bumper cars, an obstacle course, a miniature train and soccer darts.

Moreover, the children can imitate the look of their favourite superheroes or cartoon characters with face painting, while also getting the chance to play with twisted balloons of all shapes, sizes and colours.

The Kids’ Zone is only one part of the off-track entertainment this weekend. There will also be world record-breaking stunt performances, a classic car show, live music, and so much more.

Tickets to the WEC spectacle continue to be available and fans are urged to purchase theirs today so as not to miss out on another extra special occasion at BIC.

All retail customers who have purchased their tickets before 12noon on Wednesday, 9 November, will be automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win a “money-can’t-buy” opportunity to be on the grid right before the start of the Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain on Saturday, 12 November.

Tickets cost just BD5 for adults and BD2.5 for kids for the two-day weekend programme. They can be purchased online at bahraingp.com or by calling the BIC Hotline on +973-17450000.

The stunt performers have amazed crowds all over the world, and those who will be coming to BIC include Stannage Stunt Team, Terry Grant and Lee Bowers.

Stannage Stunt Team amaze crowds with a wide range of manoeuvres on two wheels and four, as well as a number of high falls and tricks with fire. Their shows generate great excitement and are a tremendous crowd-puller, so fans must not miss this opportunity to see one of the UK’s top stunt teams.

Terry Grant is an international stunt driver and multiple world record-holder. Devoted to bringing great stunt-driving and motorsport to spectators around the world, Grant’s accolades include the highest loop-the-loop in a car, the fastest two-wheel mile, and the furthest barrel-roll jump.

Lee Bowers is the UK’s premier professional stunt rider whose control of his bike—performing high and low-speed manoeuvres—continues to impress crowds wherever he goes. Bowers’s signature aerobatics and extensive list of tricks are truly a memorable experience for all those who witness them.

Meanwhile, the classic car show will feature some of the most impressive and rarest classic cars from around the world.

The awesome display of vintage automobiles is being put together by Bahrain Motor Club, which has been operating for 70 years and has an international reputation for having some of the most exclusive cars seen.

The club is a one-of-a-kind organisation that has made many contributions to regional motoring through the years.

Furthermore, there will be live music performed by Blue Batucada to add to the festival atmosphere at BIC’s vending area.

Batucada is a substyle of samba and refers to a percussive style, usually performed by an ensemble, known as a bateria. Batucada is characterised by its repetitive style and fast pace. As is Samba, the Batucada is a Brazilian musical expression with African roots.

The fast-approaching Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain will mark the culmination of the WEC’s landmark 10th anniversary season.

The endurance racing spectacle will feature a packed 37-car grid with competition in four WEC race categories. They will be competing in bumper-to-bumper action from day to night around BIC’s 5.412-kilometre track, making for a brilliant spectacle that flags off under the afternoon sun and then wraps up under the stars while being brilliantly lit by BIC’s state-of-the-art floodlights.

There will also be plenty of action in support of the WEC, including the WTCR Race of Bahrain, part of the 2022 WTCR-FIA World Touring Car Cup, and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East.

The Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain’s significance goes beyond the racing and entertainment.

This year, BIC will be implementing a ground-breaking new Green Ticket project, which will set the benchmark for a number of initiatives in areas of sustainability.
This very special initiative is being done in cooperation with The Oil and Gas Holding Company B.S.C. © ‘nogaholding’ and The Government of Bahrain.

A proportion of the ticket price, together with an amount matched by nogaholding, will be donated to a local environmental project in cooperation with the Government. This particular fund will finance the planting of mangroves in Bahrain, and meaningfully contribute to Bahrain’s commitment to quadruple mangrove coverage in The Kingdom by 2035.
