Race-goers to enjoy wide array of F1-themed experiences and activities at F1 Fanzone this F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix weekend

Fans attending this weekend’s Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2024 at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) will have a chance to enjoy a wide array of F1-themed experiences and activities.

These will be available at F1 Fanzone—a major part of the weekend’s attractions in the biggest-ever off-track entertainment programme set up by BIC for the grand prix spectacle.

With activations such as F1 sim racing, a pit-stop challenge, an F1 show car, driver selfies in augmented reality, a virtual pit tour, and much more, there is certainly plenty that will bring fans closer to the sport.

Set to be located at in the circuit’s vending area, F1 Fanzone will be thrilling race-goers at this year’s F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, taking place Thursday to Saturday (29 February to 2 March). The event will be celebrating “20 Years of a Modern Classic”, showcasing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s landmark 20th anniversary in F1.

It is the first of a record 24 rounds on the 2024 FIA F1 World Championship, and it will be the first-ever F1 Saturday night race in Sakhir.

Tickets to this year’s historic event have already completely sold out for BIC’s grandstands. The racing this weekend will be complemented by world-class off-track entertainment, among which the F1 Fanzone will be a favourite amongst race-goers.

F1 sim racing are designed to mimic the feeling of driving a real F1 car using the top flight’s latest game. A large LED screen showcases the races, and the fastest lap of the day wins valuable prizes such as signed merchandise and paddock tours.

The F1 pit-stop challenge is a favourite amongst fans as they will have the chance to change the tyres on an F1 car in the quickest possible time. Participants will compete in groups of two or three and the fastest teams are invited back at the end of the day to a final, where the eventual winners win valuable prizes.

There is also an F1 DJ Podium, which is an opportunity for fans to experience the moment a driver celebrates being on a podium. A DJ station sits above the podium, which will enhance that celebration.

As F1 continues its journey towards Net Zero in 2030, the latest show car will tell the story of F1’s future sustainability focus. The F1 show car is a focal point within the Fanzone and provides an amazing photo opportunity.

The F1 driver selfie offers fans the chance to walk away with a digital or physical photo with their favourite F1 team’s drivers and team principals. Fans stand in front of a backdrop and the drivers appear next to them in augmented reality.

“This is F1 4D” is a cinematic live experience. A short, timetabled, curated show of incredible drama and the spectacle within F1, it aims to let fans experience the full thrill of the sport.

The FIA F1 Championship Trophy will be on display at the Fanzone, giving fans an up-close experience and making for an incredible photo opportunity.

A giant helmet will allow fans the chance to create their own custom livery and upload the finished product onto social media.

Race-goers will also have the chance to experience one of the most prominent features of an F1 factory in the blast lane. Here, fans stand in a wind tunnel at full speed with a camera on hand to capture their faces as it hits full velocity.

Finally, fans will get to enjoy a garage tour with reigning constructors’ world champions Oracle Red Bull Racing in augmented reality. Pit-portal users hold their phone up and scan a physical door to reveal a different world on the other side and experience a working F1 garage in action.

Also as part of this weekend’s entertainment, there will be live musical performances of world-renowned industry icons, including a Friday night concert by multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning artist Zedd, and a post-race, Saturday night concert by superstar DJ and producer Diplo.

Furthermore, there are thrilling carnival rides; kids’ shows featuring some of their favourite Nickelodeon characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol and Shimmer and Shine; an extreme circus; roaming entertainers; and so much more.
