The stage is set for an exciting season-ending showdown this weekend in the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).

The eighth and final round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) takes place Friday and Saturday (Editor’s note: 7 and 8 November) at ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’, where four of this campaign’s WEC titles in the Hypercar and LMGT3 classes will be decided.

Racing gets underway Thursday (Editor’s note: 6 November) behind closed doors, headlined by a pair of WEC practice sessions. BIC will then be welcoming fans the following two days in Sakhir for non-stop racing and entertainment.

Gates are scheduled to open on both days of WEC weekend at 10.30am. On Friday, gates will close at 6.30pm, and on Saturday at 10pm.

Ahead of Thursday’s start of action, WEC’s star drivers, as well as participants in the supporting Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East (PCCME), conducted their final preparations today with their respective teams.

Scrutineering took place for both series while the racers went on their traditional pre-event track walk alongside team members. Timekeeping and marshalling checks were also conducted by officials, along with a safety car high-speed test, ensuring that all systems are go.

An official welcome event organised by BIC also took place in the evening in the paddock, offering the Kingdom’s visitors a taste of Bahrain’s traditional cuisine while enjoying some entertainment showcasing the country’s rich culture.

Tickets are still available for the Le Mans-inspired event. The WEC is one of the most prestigious series in all of motor racing, and tickets offer tremendous value for an occasion of its calibre – rates that cannot be matched anywhere else for a world championship event under the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

Grandstand seats cost just BD5.5 for adults and BD2.75 for children for both days of racing and family entertainment. They can be bought online at bahraingp.com or by calling the BIC Hotline on +973-17450000. Hospitality packages are also available to enjoy the event from BIC’s luxurious suites. These are priced at BD290 per person, excluding VAT, for the two days.

All those attending the race weekend will be able to experience the open paddock – an offering unique to BIC’s annual WEC event. Fans will be able to cross the BIC tunnel from the vending area and access the paddock, which is where the WEC’s star drivers and their teams call home for the duration of the meeting.

Race-goers on Saturday will be able to take part in a pair of exciting fan-engagement activities, to be held as part of the pre-race build-up.

From 11.45am to 12.35pm, they can go for a pitwalk and see the WEC teams up close in their garages, hard at work tuning up their contenders before lining up on the grid. During this time, fans will also be able to meet their favourite drivers, take pictures with them, and have memorabilia signed during the WEC autograph session, set to take place between 11.50am and 12.20pm. These experiences are included in the ticket price and can be enjoyed at no extra cost.

While the WEC will be the main attraction with its stacked grid of 36 Hypercars and LMGT3 contenders, the PCCME will also feature a highly competitive grid with 13 drivers coming from all over the world.

This weekend’s PCCME events mark the opening round of its 2025/2026 season. Two practice sessions are scheduled for Thursday, to be followed by qualifying and the first of two races on Friday. Race two will then be held on Saturday morning prior to this year’s Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain.

The PCCME field includes Alexandra Vateva from Bulgaria, Saud Al Saud and Khaled Alahmadi from Saudi Arabia, Alexander Hagen Berg from Norway, Krister Andero from Sweden, Sam Shahin and Caleb Sumich from Australia, Max Mutschlechner from Italy, Mark J Tomas from Canada, Cedric Chassang from France, Petr Brecka from the Czech Republic, and Bankcy and Taichi Watarai from Japan.

The competitors will be racing across four categories, including the Pro, ProAm, GCC, and Masters.

This year’s Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain will be the 14th WEC race to take place in Sakhir. It will also be the seventh time it is being held in its current eight-hour format. The WEC titles to be won in Bahrain over the weekend include the FIA Hypercar World Endurance Manufacturers’ Championship, the FIA Hypercar World Endurance Drivers’ Championship, the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Teams, and the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 Drivers.

Aside from the WEC and PCCME, there will also be plenty of colourful family entertainment on both days – ensuring that there is something for everybody.

All tickets purchased will make a lasting impact off the track as BIC and Bapco Energies are once again collaborating on the ground-breaking Green Ticket Initiative. For every WEC ticket sold, a proportion of the revenue, matched by Bapco Energies, will be donated to a fund which will directly support the planting of new mangroves in Bahrain.

Bapco Energies is marking a special milestone at this year’s Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain. They are celebrating their 10th anniversary as title sponsors of the race, which also features Beyon as a support partner.
